Dinghy Sailing at N.C.Th., the history
In the 1950's, the Nautical Club of Thessaloniki came to include sailing in its nautical activities. Almost immediately, it began to organize sailing races and participate in National championships. The club quickly gained a reputation as one of the most active sailing associations playing a prominent role to this day both in Greece and beyond. In the end of the 1960's NCTh sailors earned their first gold medal in a National championship, a success which multiplied in the next decade leading NCTh's sailing team in the 1980's to four continuous titles of "Most Winning Club".

N.C.Th. sailors have represented Greece in international races such as Balkan, European, World Championships and other ISAF events with outstanding results. The climax have been the world gold and silver medals in «470 Men» of 1995 and 2002 by Andreas Kosmatopoulos & Kostas Trigonis and the same medals in «FINN Junior Men» of 1999 and 2000 by Giorgos Kondogouris. Since 1992, NCTh 470-crews have represented Greece in Olympic Games. In the 2000 Sidney Olympics, Andreas Kosmatopoulos & Kostas Trigonis also have been crowned 8th Olympic Winners.

Since 1992 and for 15 years, N.C.Th. has organized the international «Tzeni Grammalidou» to honour its lost 470 champion, a series which since 2001 has been included in the ISAF ranking program. This year, the race changes its title to «Alexander the Great Cup».
